Chandana La De Silva has been appointed to the Board of Directors of Hemas Power Plc with effect from 20 March.
He fills the vacancy created by the resignation of Prof. Malik Ranasinghe in December 2013.
Former Chairman Husein Esfually has also resigned with Imtiaz Esufally taking over and Stevern Enderby who is the new CEO of Hemas Holdings filling the vacancy.
Chandana served at MAS Holdings for nine years in supply chain management, strategy development and managing a number of start-up businesses before launching a self-employed management consultancy career in the apparel and IT industries.
He serves as a Non Executive on the Boards of Hemas Transportation Ltd., 247 Techies and Eureka Technologies Ltd., Dunamis Capital Plc and Kelsey Developments Plc and is an Executive Director at Sea-Change Partners Lanka Ltd. He is a Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales and in Sri Lanka having qualified at Arthur Andersen and Company in London.
He worked in the UK for 22 years for companies mainly in the IT and telecommunication industries in operational finance roles, concluding his UK career as CFO of a data communications company that catalysed the growth of internet based applications. He moved back to Sri Lanka in 2002.
Following the latest appointment, Hemas Power Plc Board of Directors comprises Imtiaz Esufally (Chairman), Kishantha Nanayakkara (Managing Director), Sanjiva Senanayake, Malinga Arsakularatne, Riad Ameen and Chandana De Silva and Steven Enderby.
