Chandana succeeds Premalal at Singer Sri Lanka

Singer (Sri Lanka) PLC as announced changes to its key managers following the retirement of Premalal de Silva with effect from 30 June and, the appointment of Chandana Samarasinghe as Director – Operations with effect from 1 July.

Premalal spent 35 distinguished years of service with Singer enjoying positions of increasing responsibility culminating in the post of Director – Operations, in January 2009, in the newly-created Operations Division, a position he held until his retirement.

Since joining Singer in 1980 as a Trainee, Premalal held numerous positions in sales and marketing. He was promoted to the senior BUP_DFT_DFT-3-001management in 1986 and appointed theDeputy Director– Salesin 2004 followed by the elevation to the position of Sales Director in 2006.

He is credited for vastly improving the revenue, operations and overall contribution of the sales and marketing division.

During his tenure, Premalal accomplished the setting up of many sales channels including wholesale, special projects and the digital media. He also had a significant role in establishing the Singer Mega network.

Premalal also served as a Member of the Board of Directors of Singer Finance from April 2013.

Chandana Samar-asinghe, who was the Deputy Director – Operations since June of last year, succeeds Premalal De Silva in the position of Director – Operations.

Chandana joined Singer in August 1992 as a Trainee Executive and has held a series of marketing and managerial roles. He was promoted to Senior Management as the Sales Manager – Retail in August 2004 andwas appointed the Business Development Manager of the SisilWorld Channel in August 2010.In January 2013Chandanawas made the Business Development Manager of the Modern Trade Channels. Chandana is a Certified Professional Marketer from the Asia Marketing Federation and holds both an MBA and a MSc. in Strategic Marketing, from the Asia e University. Heis a member of Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (MSLIM) and holds a Diploma in Business Administration from the University of Colombo.
