Chinese Embassy commends SLCHBC for strengthening Sri Lanka-China trade ties

On the occasion of celebrating the Chinese Lunar New Year and Sri Lankan Independence Day, the Chinese Embassy of Sri Lanka hosted an Awards Ceremony at the newly refurbished BMICH recently commending, recognising the excellent Sri Lankan partners, projects and staff. The Sri Lanka – China Business Council of The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce which has a membership of 130, was awarded third place in the Top 10 Sri Lankan Partner category.The award was presented by Ambassador Wu Jianhao to the President of the Council Navindra Abeyasekera in the presence of the President of Sri Lanka Mahinda Rajapakse, Prime Minister, Minister of External Affairs Professor G.L. Pieris, Co-ordinating Secretary of the President Lalith Weeratunge and many other distinguished guests.  “We consider this a great honour to our business council to be a part of the top 10 winners and look forward to work more closely with the Chinese Embassy, the Chinese business community and our members to further strengthen bilateral trade/investment and joint ventures between Sri Lanka and China,” said Sri Lanka – China Business Council President Navindra Abeyasekera. The websiteof the Sri Lanka – China Business Council (www.srilankachinabusiness.cn) is the only Business Council website which is in both English and Mandarin. The Business Council recently signed an MOU with CCPIT Yunnan Province and re-established ties with CCPIT Beijing. With this added strength the SLCHBC has an added reach to over 125,000 Chinese companies who have membership in the above mentioned CCPITs. The Business Council has plans to link the website and its membership to that of the CCPIT – Beijing and CCPIT – Yunan.
