CIC Holdings PLC believes in continuously empowering the youth of the nation and developing professionalism in the workforce, and especially leads the way in developing skills in the areas of farming and technology.
The ‘Shoora Goviya’ television show takes precedence in these endeavours, where CIC recognises the best farmers in the country through a competition held island-wide. This show has been a major factor in raising the social status of farmers in the country and encouraging more youth to be a part of the industry.
Further to these efforts, CIC was the principal sponsor at the 32nd JCI 10 Outstanding Young Persons (TOYP) Awards, which was concluded last year and held under the patronage of Basil Rajapaksa, Minister of Economic Development. The most coveted youth award in Sri Lanka, the Junior Chamber International’s TOYP Awards recognise the achievements of 10 of the most outstanding youth in the country that have excelled in their chosen fields of work and contributed to society and inspired the people around them.
Commenting on the need to build and enhance the skills of the younger generation, Samantha Ranatunga, Chief Executive Officer/Managing Director of CIC Holdings said, “CIC Holdings believes in the promise and potential of the youth of the country and takes pride in supporting endeavours which encourage and develop their skills.
“It is in the best interest of the whole nation to ensure that the upcoming workforce is equipped with the knowledge and know-how needed to tackle the challenges ahead. It is also my hope that this sort of support is extended further to the rural areas and young farmers in the future.”
The TOYP Awards are making a change in the youth today by pushing them to strive for better and reach further and to test their limits in their respective fields. These achievements drive the younger generation to think outside of the box and to do something meaningful and to acknowledge their talents with professionalism.
CIC Holdings is also the strategic partner to the Sri Lanka Institute of Marketing (SLIM), who is constantly working towards promoting professionalism and efficiency in the marketing industry of the country.
SLIM recently organised the Effie Awards, which recognises achievement in meeting and exceeding marketing communications objectives and is the only internationally recognised awards to be held in Sri Lanka. As the strategic partner, it was yet another opportunity for CIC Holdings to be involved in an initiative which promotes effectiveness within the workplace.
Furthermore, as a corporate partner for the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA), CIC Holdings encourages best practices in the fields of corporate management and financial reporting. CIMA launched its 2013 corporate program under the theme ‘Hitting the Right Note’, encouraging businesses to be an active part of the continuous effort to improve accounting practices in the local corporate landscape.
CIC Holdings firmly believes in excellence and the celebration of it and has nurtured the nation for over four decades in the fields of agriculture, paints, consumer products, food and healthcare.
