CIMA Launch Pad 2016 is back with bigger and better opportunities for the business startup community in Sri Lanka. CIMA Launch Pad, in the form of a well-structured incubation model has been recognised as a pivotal platform for young budding entrepreneurs to meet fruition and expedite the stages between ideation and execution of their business start-up while encompassing the necessary skills, confidence, understanding and partnerships along the way.

CIMA Launch Pad 2016 has renewed the partnerships with MAS, PWC and SLASSCOM for the second consecutive year. Startup Sri Lanka is a new addition to the partnership this year. This is a testament that the identity of this incubation program is a combination of its partners, one which resonates unique synergies which will be apparent to the potential entrepreneurs that decide to be a part of the process.

MAS has been an inspiration to many players around the world in terms of innovation in the apparel sector. PWC has been dominating the business advisory space including business startups globally, while SLASSCOM has been the godfather of the business startup community in Sri Lanka with the objective of reaching 1,000 startups in Sri Lanka by 2020.

The Print Media partner for the event is Wijeya Newspapers, while the Radio Partner and Digital Media Partner for the event are Fox 91.4 and Readme respectively.

This year, the organising committee has made some intricate changes in order to improve the experience of the budding entrepreneurs and provide them with key success factors and perspectives which aim to position themselves better for the first round of seed funding. The businesses that come into the competition will need to have a prototype/ blueprint of their product/service which would be enhanced by the ‘tech hackers’ that the teams would get to work with through CIMA Launch Pad.

The competition has also included a stage for the finalists to work with a leading research organisation to factor in the customer perspective which would entail the user experience and other important aspects.

CIMA Launch Pad aspires to transform the perception of startup entrepreneurs from the sentiment which denotes the fact that ‘we need any investor with money’ to ‘we need a strategic investor with synergies’. The winning team has amazing opportunities that would boost their business startup along with start-up bundles provided by our global brands that will help take them further into their journey to become the next big disruption in Sri Lanka.
