CIMA post-Budget seminar today

CIMA Sri Lanka will host an evening discussion forum today from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at King’s Court, Cinnamon Lakeside addressing the key areas of focus pertaining to the 2013 Budget, its impact on businesses, the economy and the opportunities and challenges it will create.

It will feature an eminent group of speakers deliberating on the implications of the Budget proposals, CIMA 2013 Budget Highlights: Managing Challenges, Sustaining Growth.

The keynote speaker at the forum will be S.R. Attygalle, Deputy Secretary, Ministry of Finance and Planning, who will enlighten the audience on the Government’s long and short-term objectives, policy framework and strategy, and demonstrate how the 2013 Budget proposals will fulfil these aims.

Also speaking at the event will be Suresh Perera, Principal, Tax & Regulatory, KPMG Sri Lanka, discussing the revenue proposals presented through the Budget, and their impact on respective segments of the economy.

Dr. Anila Dias Bandaranaike, former Assistant Governor, Central Bank of Sri Lanka, will walk through the macroeconomic impact of the Budget, and Deshamanya Lalith De Mel, Chairman of Hemas Holdings PLC and First Capital PLC, will address the overall business impact of the Budget proposals, looking specifically at the opportunities and challenges presented to the private sector by the proposed changes.

Reyaz Mihular, Managing Partner, KPMG Sri Lanka, taking on the role of moderator cum panellist,  Dhammika Gunatilaka, Tax Advisor, Department of Fiscal Policy, Ministry of Finance and Planning, Asoka Hettigoda, Managing Director, Hettigoda Group, and Faizan Osman, Chief Financial Officer, NDB  bank PLC, will be the expert panellists for the event.
