CNCI Achiever Awards 2017 launched

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries – CNCI held its official launch and media briefing of the ‘CNCI Achiever Awards 2017’ for Industrial Excellence at Salon Anthurium of Hotel Galadari on 16 February. It is a unique event where the CNCI, the premier industrial chamber in the country recognises the Sri Lankan industrialists for their achievements both in the manufacturing and service sectors. The Chief Guest of the occasion was Ministry of Industry and Commerce Secretary Chinthaka S. Lokuhetti.

The Achiever Awards have been designed by the CNCI to promote industrial growth in the country by recognising and rewarding those industrialists who have excelled in their businesses in the areas of quality standards, productivity, corporate plan, research and development, employee benefits, labour relations etc while assuring concerns over the social and environmental obligations and to encourage these industries to reach further heights in their spheres of operations.  

This is a valuable opportunity to all industrial entrepreneurs of Extra Large, Large, Medium, Small & Micro categories, in provincial and national levels to participate. Addressing the gathering at the launching ceremony, CNCI Chairman Tissa Seneviratne said that they are certainly proud to mention that the CNCI Achiever Awards Competition has been able to produce a number of industrialists to the country who have become highly reputed and leading businessmen in Sri Lanka today.  Also there are some companies who initially contested under the categories of ‘Small’ and ‘Medium’ are now in the categories of ‘Large’ and ‘Extra Large’.   These are, of course, the success stories behind the Achiever Awards Event organised by the CNCI.

Achiever Awards Steering Committee Chairman and CNCI Deputy Chairman Raja Hewabowala introduced ‘Achiever Awards 2017’ to the media.  He added that being the Managing Director of Nippon Paints Lanka Ltd. his company has experienced the value of participating at this competition and they had bagged the Crystal Award in few years back after winning the Gold Award for three consecutive years. He said that they are the Number One paint manufacturer in the country today. He further mentioned that updating the processes according to the Achiever Awards selection criteria mattered immensely to reach the company’s growth and its operational success. 

Applications for the CNCI Achiever Awards are subjected to a stringent evaluation procedure; initially by an external audit firm, then an internal panel of judges consisting chartered accountants and engineers and finally the external panel of judges headed by University of Moratuwa Vice Chancellor Professor Ananda Jayawardena.  The presentation of awards will take place on 17 August at Hotel Galadari, Colombo.  

Achiever Awards applications are available at the CNCI Chamber Secretariat, Galle Face Court 2, Colombo 3 and all Regional Chambers or they can be downloaded from their website www.cnci.lk.  Applications will close on 19 May.
