CNCI announces Achiever Awards 2012

The Ceylon National Chamber of Industries (CNCI) has announced the 2012 Achiever Awards competition for Industrial and Service excellence for the 11th consecutive year.

The CNCI Achiever awards are open for all eligible Sri Lankan enterprises in the industrial, manufacturing and services sectors.

The unique feature of the CNCI Achiever Awards will be that  these awards are open to the Sri Lankan Industrial enterprises who took the courage to set up industries in the countries belong to the SAARC region, namely in India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Bhutan and Maldive Islands, who will be awarded for their operational excellence. Among the SAARC Country specific winners in the past year has been India, Pakistan and Maldives islands.

The main objective is to recognize the industrial and operational excellence and to appreciate their performances, and reward them in order to encourage such enterprises to reach further heights in their specific spheres.

The CNCI Achiever Awards are open to large, medium, small and micro enterprises in the Industrial, Manufacturing and services sectors.

During the Achiever awards the Chamber CNCI will be paying special attention and emphasis to the small and micro sector enterprises from the Northern and Eastern provinces, who need guidance and assistance to consolidate their enterprises and to provide strength to stand on their feet. The Jaffna, Batticaloa and Trincomalee areas has been identified as specific areas for the development of micro sector enterprises.  

During this year 2012, the Chairman of the panel of Judges for this unique event will be the eminent Engineer Prof. Ananda Jayawardena, the Head of the faculty of Engineering and the Vice Chancellor of the University of Moratuwa. The other panel of judges will include several eminent, reputed, qualified specialists in the spheres of engineering, management, productivity, quality assurance and control, research and development, Sri Lankan standards,  technological development, marketing, accountancy, auditing, environmental, consumer affairs and / banking and finance.

During the past year the leading manufacturer in the food sector, Ceylon Biscuits Ltd (CBL) secured the overall national gold award while the Hemas Manufacturing and Nestle Lanka secured the national silver and bronze awards respectively.

Closing date for completed applications is 10 July.
