Exhibition of building materials and interior products Construction Expo 2014, Sri Lanka’s only and most comprehensive exhibition related to and featuring each and every factor related to the industry is scheduled to be held on 20, 21 and 22 June 2014 at the Sirimavo Bandaranaike Memorial Exhibition Centre (SBMEC) Colombo. The Ceylon Institute of Builders (CIOB) has been partnering with ‘Construction Expo’ which has been organised by the professional exhibition organiser – Lanka Exhibition & Conference Services Ltd., (LECS) since its inception. The CIOB fully endorses this event as one of the premier construction and building materials related exhibitions to be staged in Sri Lanka. Over the years the exhibition has been the most sought after gathering place for consumers who are on the lookout for different facets related to

the construction industry as well as products and service providers related to the industry who have found the exhibition to be the most potent and comprehensive platform to meet new consumers, network, meet and exchange technologies and services among those present. Construction Expo 2014 will also feature a ‘World Construction Symposium’ with the participation of foreign construction giants scheduled to participate, adding colour, rigour and world class expertise to the mega event. The exhibition over the years is regarded as the only such ‘meeting grounds’ for all stakeholders related to the growing construction industry. Sri Lanka is currently experiencing a gradual boom in construction with both urban and rural areas being developed in order to be on par with the standards of developed nations. As much as government ventures and corporate ventures tin construction are gathering momentum, single unit consumers who are largely families who seek to build their home or further their construction related need are among the thousands of visitors who gather during the event spanning three days. The exhibition is also considered as the meeting place for both domestic and international suppliers of products and services and is the only such platform under which industry leaders, stakeholders and all other players related to the industry find such common potent meeting ground. The exhibition is set to feature each and every sub industry related to the construction industry including, air-conditioning, landscaping, IT solutions, financing, cleaning equipment etc. “This will be one of a kind with almost every stakeholder related to the industry being present. The consumers have grown to look at the exhibition as the one stop shop’ to suit their needs and over the years many consumers do all their purchases, inquiries and other related work during the three days for the entire year. Therefore this exhibition is set to draw one of the most focused visitor profiles” said LECS General Manager Aasim Mukthar. This invariably has led to the exchange of technologies, backward and horizontal integration among products and service providers, increasing efficiency, and cost reduction among many other benefits. Concurrent to the event ‘Construction and Machinery Equipment Asia’ will be held in order to showcase, machinery and equipment service and products providers in order to facilitate all consumers, visitors and exhibitors with the best and most modern equipment related to the construction industry within one single platform.
