Consultations on PUCSL’s corporate plan for 2013-2015

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka is inviting stakeholders to participate in finalising its corporate plan 2013-2015. Stakeholders can submit their proposals based the draft corporate plan that has been published (see www.pucsl.gov.lk)

The Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka, the multi-sector regulatory body was established under the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka Act No. 35 of 2002. Its role is to regulate infrastructure industries of electricity, petroleum and water services. The legal framework empowering the Commission with the regulatory powers is completed only after the respective industrial legislations are approved by the Parliament.   

With the enactment of Sri Lanka Electricity Act No. 20 of 2009, the Commission became the regulator for the electricity industry and commenced the regulation of electricity industry since 2009. The legal framework with regard to the petroleum and water service industries is at the draft stage.

The PUCSL maintains absolute transparency in all matters and when taking decisions, and takes steps to consult the all stakeholders when the regulatory decisions are taken.

The corporate plan of the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka with regard to the regulatory processes of the relevant industries for the period 2013 to 2015 has been drafted and it has been published for the information of all stakeholders through the website www.pucsl.gov.lk.

The PUCSL invites all stakeholders who are interested in submitting proposals and views, if any, with regard to the corporate plan. Such written submissions can be sent either by post or e-mail ([email protected]) to the Commission. The corporate plan will be revised after studying all proposals and views. The final corporate plan is scheduled to be published shortly for the information of all stakeholders.
