To coincide with this week, individuals, companies, universities, and organisations are invited to join Young Entrepreneurs Sri Lanka (YESL) to showcase the ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit of Sri Lanka’ by sharing activities across the global platform.

Last year, GEW Sri Lanka 2011 was formally launched at the American Center, with the patronage of the US Embassy.

“We believe that change is needed in Sri Lanka, we have great ideas, but society is fragmented and unsure about what to do next. Join us to celebrate the ‘Entrepreneurial Spirit of Sri Lanka’ through GEW Sri Lanka 2012, to promote a better understanding of entrepreneurship, share knowledge, and help each other develop a better idea of how to move beyond the talk,” YESL founder and veteran entrepreneur Patrick Amarasinghe said.

Through the GEW, globally the next generation of entrepreneurs are inspired and can emerge. In doing so, they will begin to acquire the knowledge, skills and networks needed to grow innovative, sustainable enterprises that have a positive impact on their lives, their families and communities by generating new ideas and seeking better ways of doing business.

For five straight years now, GEW has been a rallying point for thousands of organisations working together to strengthen economies while changing the world around them.  In 2011, the campaign grew to include 123 countries, 24,008 partners, 33,846 activities and 7,428,690 participants from all six continents.

Global Entrepreneurship Week is a rapidly emerging movement of creative and innovative individuals and organisations — all unleashing new ideas.
