Incorporated in 1984 as a subsidiary private company of the then Ceylon Ceramics Corporation, and later privatised in December 1990 with the admission of a consortium of Japanese Companies, Dankotuwa was converted to a public company in 1994 and with an Initial Public Offering later that year, and listed on the Colombo Stock Exchange in January 1995.

As the company celebrates 33 years, it is proud to make a stand as an environmentally conscious company, fully attuned to preserving its natural habitat to achieve greater sustainability; hence one sapling signifying each year, planted by someone who is very valuable to the company.

This year Dankotuwa showcased its most innovative ‘Silk & Satin’ range which consisted of very thin products which are light in weight but offer the strength of regular porcelain ware. This range was developed in association with a renowned UK tableware designer house ‘Queensberry Hunt’.

The debossed effect, another novelty improvement, focuses on engraved motifs on to regular dinnerware, a special know-how that Dankotuwa brings to your table. The Scala design developed in association with Prof. Wolf Karnagell which follows a complex glazed technology was also amidst the innovative whiteware which graced Dankotuwa portfolio at Ambiante 2016.

Within the ceramics sector, Dankotuwa Porcelain has won the most awards holding the record of winning the ‘Exporter of the Year’ award on three occasions. Today the brand name of Dankotuwa is well known as a high quality product with its high whiteness, high scratch and chip resistance, and translucency. The superior quality characteristics of the product have earned it a reputation all over the world. Dankotuwa is captured the HORECA segment in Sri Lanka whilst continuing to gain its mark in India, and is well known for its fast customisation and its innovative shapes designed by foreign designers.
