From its inception in 1939, DI was a company not only making leather shoes, but providing customised Leather Footwear solutions for specific needs. Over the past seven decades, DI has developed through research and produced most innovative products. The first anti-mine shoe, designed and developed by DI in collaboration with the Sri Lanka Army, saved many from fatal injuries during the 30 years of conflict. Continuing the passion to innovate, DI introduced the Industrial Safety Shoe DI Safety, the first-ever safety shoe produced in Sri Lanka complying with international standards. A shoe specially designed to protect the feet of the senior citizens, DI Healthy was launched last week and is a unique product specially designed for Sri Lankan market. It’s stylish and fashionable, yet affordable. Nobody will recognise it as a health shoe from its outer appearance and it’s crafted to perfection as a normal shoe with genuine leather upper, with micro pores to breathe out the moisture and heat to keep the feet cool and dry. Leather as a natural product does not cause any irritations or allergy conditions to the skin. The sole is slip resistant, shock absorbing and of ultra-light material for safety and comfort. Managing Director/CEO Sitendra Senaratne stated: “With DI Healthy Footwear you do not have to compromise, it’s a complete product for senior citizens who want to live an active life without risking foot injury.”
