DI wins Silver at National Business Excellence Awards 2012

Ceylon Leather Products PLC won the Silver Award for the third successive year at the National Business Excellence Award (NBEA) in apparel, textile and leather products sector organised by the National Chamber of Commerce.

Ceylon Leather Products popularly known as DI was established way back in 1939, by the British rulers to supply footwear to the British Forces. In her long history of metamorphosis from a state department to a corporation and finally to a public quoted firm listed on the main board of the Colombo Stock Exchange, DI has maintained itself, as identified by Chairman of NBEA panel of judges Dr. Uditha Liyanage, “One of the organisation that have got ahead of the pack by doing things better and better than their competitors.”

In addition to the above award DI has had repeated success at the Footwear and Leather Products Fair 2012, organised by the Export Development Board winning 14 awards by young and talented designers and the Silver Award 2012 from the National Chamber of Exporters of Sri Lanka.

DI with its committed staff and workforce has a vision to be identified as a leader in the real leather market for apparel and related accessories. Enumerating the success, DI’s CEO/MD Sitendra Senaratne paid a glowing tribute to his staff and the workforce, for their contribution towards the success, and thanked their valued customers and other stake holders who continually patronised DI products, and their unfailing support in all DI activities. DI’s parent company Environmental Resources Investment (ERI) PLC was mentioned specially for striving hard to achieve success at all times and make DI even better by adhering to ERI’s Motto ‘We make it work’.
