Dialog Axiata PLC published its sixth successive Sustainability Report this year, which is Sri Lanka’s first such report to be compliant with the Global Reporting Initiative’s (GRI) G4 ‘Comprehensive’ reporting guidelines. This report is unique in many ways, as it is also Sri Lanka’s first-ever Sustainability Report with an augmented-reality feature, allowing readers to view video excerpts of the Dialog values and itssustainability functions using their mobile phones. The G4 version of GRI’s reporting guidelines which is the latest version was launched last year.  Dialog has been one of the very few early adopters globally of the G4 version of GRI’s reporting guidelines, which is the latest version launched last year. The report was reviewed by the GRI for key material G4 disclosures and was also granted the GRI ‘Materiality Matters’ check, in addition to being independently verified by Net Balance Management Group, Australia. Furthermore, this report also serves as Dialog’s third consecutive communication on progress against the United Nations Global Compact’s advanced criteria, and addresses progress on the ISO26000 Social Responsibility guideline. Dialog’s 2013 Sustainability Report has been developed under the theme ‘Convergence’, discussing the manner in which the many activities, innovations and measured risks begin to complement and feed on each other resulting in new and inclusive futures. Digital inclusion and responsible operations continue to pervade Dialog’s approach to sustainability. “We see ourselves in a role focused on democratising this digital future, and the multi-faceted digital empowerment it promises to deliver to citizens and businesses,” avers Dr. Hans Wijayasuriya, Dialog’s Group Chief Executive in his review. The Dialog Sustainability Report discusses the progress and empowerment delivered by the Company in its inventive Corporate Responsibility initiatives, which include ‘Nenasa’ – Sri Lanka’s satellite-based distance education bridge, the Disaster and Emergency Warning Network (DEWN), the Ratmalana Audiology Centre – helping those with hearing and speech disabilities, the Dialog Foundation, Dialog Merit scholarships and more. Digital inclusion has been core to Dialog’s mission, and has fuelled the Company’s growth and leadership from inception.
