The award was conferred at the NCE Export Awards 2013 event, presenting accolades to the export achievers of the country. This year marks the seventh anniversary of the company’s progress by way of significant contributions in the increasing of Sri Lankan exports.
The award recognises Diamond’s commitment to maintaining the spirit of Sri Lankan business and entrepreneurship – bringing some of the best and most innovative products and services to the global marketplace with the sought after ‘Produce of Sri Lanka’ label.
Exports continue to be the engine of growth in Sri Lanka, supporting several farming families, cottage industries and communities across the country. Diamond has successfully achieved this feat through development of an effective farming network, and hopes to further expand the economic upliftment of this sector in the next two to three years. Furthermore, the company’s success in this vital sector contributes to the historic progress in Sri Lanka’s export growth in traditional and non-traditional commodities.
The award received under the Export and Agriculture Bulk Sector (Medium category) was presented at the 22nd annual National Chamber of Exporters (NCE) Export Awards ceremony at the Colombo Hilton on 26 September and undeniably stands testimony to the noteworthy growth that the company has attained over the years. This success has been mainly due to its good local supplier network, which is clearly evident in the satisfaction of its overseas clientele.
Headed by Lalith De Silva, Diamond International Lanka commenced operations in 2007, specialising in procuring, supplying and exporting a range of commodities. It is an international trading company with a network of local suppliers who are consistently nurtured by the company. Hence, high quality produce is procured, specialising presently in the export of oil seeds (sesame, soya bean and maize), essential oils (cinnamon leaf oil, cinnamon bark oil, citronella oil and lemon grass oil).
Since 2011, Diamond has also been involved in the manufacture and export of TAWASHI coir brushes, coco-peat blocks, spices and fruits. These products are shipped regularly and widely appreciated by satisfied clients in the International markets of India, Taiwan, Singapore, Malaysia, Vietnam, China, Hong Kong, Brazil, USSR, Sudan, UAE & Italy and to the recently opened up market in South Korea.
