A meeting took place recently between Palitha Fernando, Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Traffic and quarry owners and quarry material transporters, who provide service for the Colombo Port City Development Project. The meeting was held to educate them on the rules and regulations on quarry material transportation to the project site.
The DIG Traffic has emphasised the existing rules and regulations as well as the Supplementary Environmental Impact Assessment (SEIA) report’s suggestions and recommendations on quarry material transportation to the project site.
Owners of quarries identified in Colombo and Gampaha Districts together with the quarry material transport lorry owners who participated in this discussion has given the assurance that they would abide by all the stipulated rules and regulations.
The meeting was organised and facilitated by China Harbour Engineering Company (CHEC), the contractor of the Colombo Port City Development Project.
