Discussion on bilateral trade between Sri Lanka and European Union

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka (NCCSL) will hold a presentation/discussion on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and the European Union’ on Thursday 31 May, from 2.30p.m to 4p.m at the National Chamber Auditorium, No. 450 D.R. Wijewardena Mawatha, Colombo 10.



The special Guest will be Ambassador/Head of Delegation of the European Commission in Sri Lanka Bernard Savage. He will be accompanied by Head of Trade of the Delegation of the European Commission Roshan Lyman. They will discuss the current business trend, trade potential, opportunities for export, import, investment/ and other opportunities for Sri Lankans to do business with the European countries.

The European Union is one of Sri Lanka’s largest and longstanding providers of development assistance supporting the country’s sustainable economic and social development. European Union comprises of 27 member states viz Austria, Belgium, Bulgaria, Cyprus, Czech Republic, Denmark, Estonia, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Latvia, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Malta, Netherlands Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain, Sweden and the UK. Participants will be able to interact with the officials of the Embassy and discuss any business related issues when dealing with the European countries.

European Union is Sri Lanka’s largest export partner and third largest import partner .Major exports to EU from Sri Lanka are textiles, garments, machinery, rubber based goods, gem and jewellery, fishery products, agricultural products tea, ceramic products, toys etc.  Imports from EU to Sri Lanka are machinery, printing machinery, electrical items, pharmaceuticals, precious gems, telephone sets, motor vehicles, special woven fabric, lace tapestry, etc.  For registration contact chamber 4741788 Ms Fouad or email [email protected];[email protected] or fax 2689596.
