Discussion on Indo Lanka bilateral trade

The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka will hold a discussion on ‘Bilateral Trade between Sri Lanka and India’ on Thursday 12 December 2013 from 3 p.m. to 4.30 p.m. at the Chamber Auditorium 450 D.R. Wijewardene Mawatha, Colombo-10. The Indian High Commissioner Y.K. Sinha, will be the Guest Speaker at the seminar along with his Deputy. They will speak on the current business trend, trade potential and opportunities for export, import, investment and other services available for Sri Lankans in India. There will be a session where the participants will get an opportunity for discussion and interaction with the High Commission officials of the Indian High Commission. According to a news release, India plans to double its bilateral trade with Sri Lanka to $ 10 billion in the next three years. Trade volumes crossed $ 5 billion in 2011-12. A number of projects have been successfully completed in diverse sectors such as health, education, agriculture, fishing, small and medium enterprises development, art, craft and culture.  Sri Lanka imports automobiles, refined petroleum products, pharmaceuticals and sugar, iron and steel, etc. from India while it exports natural rubber, poultry feed, wire/cable, paper and paper products  etc. to India.
