Dr. Dubash receives ‘Retail Leadership Award’ at Asia Retail Congress

Dr.Saroshi Dubash, Director of Abans Group, was the proud recipient of the ‘Retail Leadership Award’ at the prestigious Asia Retail Congress held on 13 and 14 February 2014 in Mumbai, India.
The Asia Retail Congress is represented by 40 countries from across Asia and the world and is governed by an Advisory Council that guides the strategic intent of the event and leads it to its success.
This year over 100 participants and about 50 invited guests, speakers, dignitaries and award winners attended the event. Everyone who was considered as a top personality in the retail business spectrum was present at this event.
The theme of the Asia Retail Congress 2014 was ‘Retailing in the VUCA global environment (Volatility, Uncertainty, Complexity, and Ambiguity)’. The aim of the congress was to attempt to be the single largest rendezvous of retail professionals from Asia and the Globe and the objective was to ‘Share, Predict, Strategies and Prosper’.
Dr. Saroshi Dubash, apart from receiving the prestigious ‘Retail Leadership Award,’ was given the singular honour of being invited as a member of the panel discussion on the topic ‘Love what you do: Women Mean Business’.
Speaking about Sri Lanka’s retail business in the post conflict era, Dr. Dubash said: “The Sri Lankan economy has been growing at a rapid pace which has resulted in a huge impetus for the retail industry. The large increase in tourist arrivals has been a big boom to the entire economy of the country by providing investment opportunities to a wide spectrum of businesses that cater to tourist related services. Carefully planned infrastructure developments islandwide have speeded up communication systems and created new opportunities for setting up retailing businesses in all regions of Sri Lanka.”
She also applauded the encouragement and assistance given by the Sri Lankan Government for entrepreneurs to start new businesses and for established businesses to expand and modernise their services.
It was yet another proud honour bestowed on Dr. Dubash when she was called upon to present the awards to the other award winners of the 2014 Asia Retail Congress.
