‘Made in SAARC’ trade fair in Nepal next month

The ‘Made in SAARC’ trade fair will be held in Kathmandu, Nepal from 22 to 25 September, the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) said yesterday.

It said South Asia was now the emerging economy of the world. The countries of South Asia through the SAARC regional grouping have entered in to South Asia Free Trade Agreement which has created a framework for the establishment of free trade area of 1.6 billion people. The GDP of SAARC countries is in tune of US$ 620.3 and a GDP growth rate approximately 5.8 per cent.

The ‘Made in SAARC’ trade fair is being organised on the sidelines of the SAARC Business Leaders Conclave to demonstrate the evolution of SAARC regional commercial synergy and develop inter-regional trade and commerce by utilising SAARC opportunities.

This fair has 150 stalls with country wise pavilions to showcase not only exquisite products based on tradition, culture and its people but also modern products to accelerate the economic growth of trade and industry in the region. This fair will help establish contact between buyers and sellers looking for new and original business opportunities.

The fair provides companies to present themselves to the market to promote and popularise your products to retailers, wholesalers and distributors; learn and discover new opportunities by interacting with other exhibitors and establish business contacts in specific lines of business with stakeholders for enhancing business by developing business linkages.

The range of products displayed include household goods, carpets, handicrafts, paper and stationery, furniture, gift items, toys, fashion wear, garments, kitchen items, footwear, medicine/pharmaceuticals, sanitary wear, electric and electronic goods, iron and steel, agri products, packed foods, herbal products and many more.

FCCISL said companies joining the Sri Lankan delegation in this event would be further provided with the prospect of joining the fourth SAARC Business Leaders Conclave (20-22 September in Kathmandu, Nepal) and have the opportunity to meet well-known business personalities and obtain attractive business connections with most prominent and respected businesses for B2B discussions, business networking sessions, sectoral roundtables, two-day conference, gala dinners, meeting with presence industry leaders and creation of platforms for constructive partnerships.
