National Gem and Jewellery Authority (NGJA) has made arrangements to organise “Sri Lanka Pavilions” at twelve major International Gem and Jewellery Shows in 2011 to promote the industry.

The special pavilion sponsored by ‘NGJA’ at Jewels Sri Lanka 2010 is a valuable experience as well as a platform for ‘Export Ready’ SME’s to test market their products prior to their participation in “Sri Lanka Pavilions” organised by ‘NGJA’ at International Trade Fairs and Exhibitions.

As done in previous years; this year too ‘NGJA’ has made arrangements to offer the onsite Gem Testing and Gold Testing facilities free of charge for buyers and Exhibitors.

The Government has identified the gem and jewellery industry as one of the thrust areas for development. Accordingly, the government granted unprecedented incentives to the gem and jewellery industry through the budget proposals for 2009; which augurs well for the sustainability of export growth.

Today Sri Lanka has made its mark in the international market and is known for quality gemstones and creating fine jewellery in a range of unique and exquisite designs. With this reputation, the Sri Lankan gem and jewellery industry is now geared to establish a world-class gem and jewellery hub practicing green and ethical production.

Sri Lanka is blessed with 70 varieties of colored stones out of 200 found in the world and is among the five most important gem-bearing nations of the world. Over the centuries, Sri Lanka’s jewellery makers have refined their hereditary skills to the highest standards. Exquisite craftsmanship and sophisticated creativity, blended with the modern touch today receives the highest priority.
