Minister of Economic Development Basil Rajapaksa declared open the ‘Technology Marketplace’ exhibition at the BMICH yesterday.

The ‘Technology Marketplace’ is an event that seeks to link scientific research with industry so as to forge partnerships that will ensure that research findings are utilised to add value to industrial products and contribute to the development of the industry and thereby to the national economy.

The ‘Marketplace’ is one of several initiatives envisaged by the Ministry to bridge the gap that exists between research and industry and to bring industry to collaborate more closely with State research institutions. This effort is in furtherance of Sri Lanka’s commitment to transform to a knowledge-based economy.

The Arthur C. Clarke Institute for Modern Technologies, Industrial Technology Institute (ITI), Institute of Fundamental Studies, National Engineering Research and Development Centre (NERD C), Sri Lanka Standards Institute (SLSI), Sri Lanka Accreditation Board for Conformity Assessment (SLAB), National Science Foundation (NSF), Nanco (Pvt) Ltd. and Centre for Research and Development (CRD) of the Ministry of Defence are participant institutions of the ‘Technology Marketplace’ exhibition.

The Ministry of Technology and Research has scheduled the holding of the ‘Technology Marketplace’ exhibition on 24 and 25 October at the BMICH.

Minister of Technology and Research Pavithra Wanniarachchi, Senior Minister for Scientific Affairs Tissa Vitarana, Deputy Minister of Technology and Research Faiszer Musthapha and Secretary to the Ministry of Technology and Research Dhara Wijayatilake also participated at this occasion.
