Eardley Perera appointed to United Motors Board

United Motors Lanka PLC announced the appointment of Eardley Perera as a Director of the company with effect from end May 2014.

Perera is a Chartered Marketer and a Graduate of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, UK, with over 40 years of experience in management. He has undergone management training in Sweden, UK, South Korea, India, Philippines and Singapore. His management experience includes Sales and Marketing, Commercial and General Management. He now serves as a Non-Executive Director in several public companies including Janashakthi Insurance PLC, Keells Food Products PLC, ODEL PLC, Dunamis Capital PLC, and First Capital Holdings PLC as well as private companies such as M&E Ltd. and STING Consultants Ltd. Perera, who is actively engaged in management consultancy, has had extensive experience in education as a lecturer on the CIM (UK) Postgraduate Course in Marketing and the MBA program of the Postgraduate Institute of Management (PIM), where he now serves as a member of the Board of Study. The Board of Directors of United Motors Lanka PLC are Sunil Wijesinha (Chairman), Chanaka Yatawara (Chief Executive Officer/Executive Director), Ananda Atukorala, Aashiq Lafir, Ramesh Yaseen, Hiroshini Fernando, M. Sawada and Eardley Perera  

 United Motors goes for share split


The Board of Directors (BOD) of United Motors (UML) has resolved to increase the number of shares in the company via a sub division of every two existing issued ordinary shares into three ordinary shares. Consequent to the sub division, the current 67.3 million ordinary shares that have been issued will increase to 100.9 million shares while stated capital will remain unchanged (subject to shareholder approval). UML shares (Ex-Dividend) closed at Rs. 125, up by Rs. 3.50. M.A. Yaseen holds a 51.5% stake in UML whilst R.R. Yaseen holds a 11% stake along with Readywear Industries a further 9.7% and S.M. Chrysostom 7%.
