Unlike Mother’s Day, Father’s Day is almost an afterthought for most people in Sri Lanka, usually entailing last minute shopping, if any gifts are even bought at all. In the event they are, the most common gift is the most obvious – a shirt.
To celebrate Father’s Day in 2014, which will falls on Sunday, 15 June, Emerald together with its communications partner Triad decided to transform this cold, impersonal shirt into something more meaningful. Thus, the Wishing Shirt was created.
Using the very pieces of board that are used for the packing of shirts and usually discarded the moment the shirt is unwrapped, Emerald added heartfelt wishes to the fathers of Sri Lanka; wishes that can be personalised further following purchase.
Shirts in a variety of designs are available at Emerald Shirt Stores in Colpetty, Bambalapitiya and Kohuwala.
