End July worker remittances swell to $ 4 b

The Central Bank said yesterday worker remittances in the first seven months of this year had increased by 11% to $ 4 billion. In July worker remittances grew by 15.2% to $ 606.7 million in July 2014 compared to $ 526.6 million in the corresponding period of 2013. “Cumulative inflows of workers’ remittances rose to $3,966.6 million during the first seven months of 2014 from a corresponding figure of $3,565.6 million during the same period of 2013, resulting in a growth of 11.2%,” the Central Bank said.
