Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 regional awards kick off

The regional award ceremonies of the annual Sri Lankan Entrepreneur of the Year 2011 (SLEOTY), has kicked off with successful rewarding of winners in the Central and Northern Provinces.

SLEOTY is the flagship of the FCCISL work programme is being held in the month of November.

SLEOTY, the most prestigious and coveted business awards of the calendar of the chamber movement in Sri Lanka, is organised by the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) with its regional chamber member bodies.

Central and Northern Provincial Awards organised by the FCCISL and Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Central Province, were held on 2 November at Earls’ Regency Kandy.

The first regional show out of the four which have been scheduled was a very successive event which attracted distinguish gathering of more than 200 invitees comprising of leading entrepreneurs, government and public sector officials and other interested groups.  The Gold award of the extra large category of Central province was won by OAK RAY Wood Carvings Ltd. Managing Director Sujeewa Palliyaguruge.  The Silver and Bronze awards of extra large category was earned by Tele-Pix Technologies Ltd Managing Director Nimal Peiris and Seetha Holdings Ltd. Managing Director Lakshman Premachandra There were two bronze awards in the large and medium category won by Jagath Kumara Managing Director of Pentium 2000 Stationeries (Pvt) Ltd and Mr. R.S. Balanathan Managing Director of Ko Lanka Pure Silk Ltd.

There were two Silver and Bronze award winners of the medium category of Northern Province respectively Ponniah Nadarajh Proprietor of Anna Industry and T.E. Balasundram Managing Director of Bamini Engineering Contractors.

SLEOTY recognise and award business personals on the basis of objective criteria and on dispassionate manner by an independent panel.  The unique feature of this award scheme is that the recipients of awards are being selected on both at provincial and national level which is particularly attracted to small and medium scale entrepreneurs who have to undergo numerous difficulties in achieving excellence in business.
