Essential facilities initiate at Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port to start Ro-Ro operations

The most essential facilities to cater operations at Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port in Hambantota have been initiated.

Accordingly, logistic and customer service facilities, emigration and immigration facilities and customs facilities have been provided at the Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port in Hambantota.

As an effective measure to ease the long berthing delays experienced by Roll on Roll off vessels at the Port of Colombo, SLPA, with the consultation of Dr. Nevil Gunawardhane Director General of Sri Lanka Customs opens the new Sri Lanka Customs office at Mahinda Rajapaksa Port in Hambantota on 5 June shipping lines and importers recently decided to route all such vessels to the Magam Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port and the first Ro-Ro vessel operation at the port is scheduled to be carried out on 6 June. Accordingly, the vessel N4K FRICIA from Japan will call at the Magam Ruhunupur Mahinda Rajapaksa Port with 15 units for transshipment on 5 June.  

She will be followed by ASIAN SUN calling from Chennai in India on 6 June and carrying more than 1000 units for trans shipment.

The vehicles brought by the vessel ASIAN SUN will be trans-shipped from Magma Ruhunupura Mahinda Rajapaksa Port to Algeria by the car carrier ASIAN Legend on 15 June.
