A three-member delegation from the European Parliament yesterday arrived in Sri Lanka to assess the latest progress made to obtain the Generalised Scheme of Preferences (GSP) +.
The delegation is headed by European Member of the Parliament Anne-Marie Mineur and comprises Lola Sanchez Caldentey and Ben Vanpeperstraete.
On arrival yesterday they were welcomed by Free Trade Zones and General Services Employees Union (FTZGSEU) Secretary Anton Marcus and other union members at the Bandaranaike International Airport.
The European Parliament will commence discussions to consider awarding GSP+ to Sri Lanka on 19 April in Brussels.
