Evolution: A way of life for Anything.lk

Anything.lk (www.anything.lk) is a company that lives and breathes evolution. For a company that isn’t even a year old, the changes it has gone through are immense. The company’s beginnings back in June of last year were that of a group buying type of company that offered Deals.

But, there itself, Anything.lk made a change to distance themselves from the rest of the group buying companies around the world and that change was to take the whole “group” factor out of the equation. If a customer wanted a Deal they got it. There was no waiting for a certain number of “people bought” to be achieved, no disappointment when that number of people was not achieved. This was perhaps a sign of things to come.

While every other Anything.lk clone was working on staying alive, Anything.lk focussed on enhancing the Deal experience and on evolving. Making available three different payment options (online credit card, dialog mobile and offline pay and pick up) was just one of the features presented to consumers; the business quickly expanded to having travel, events and retail as separate divisions in order to better serve customers. This is a move that has been somewhat copied by a couple of other deals companies, not through expansion, but by maintaining ties with other companies that have those services.

The Retail Division in particular has been a huge expansion for Anything.lk. It has seen the launch of Sri Lanka’s largest Online Retail Store, which currently sports over 300 different household products at incredibly competitive prices and is set to grow even larger. Consumers can not only search for and purchase goods online, they can get them delivered straight to their doorstep thanks to the island-wide delivery feature on offer.

With the whole purchasing process being cut down to a matter of minutes, this presents the consumer with a huge saving in travelling costs, time and from having to worry about transporting the goods back home. Anything.lk even offers easy payment schemes for certain products, making the impact on the consumer’s wallet an easy one. The EventsDivision first saw a boost with the involvement in the Avicii concert in June. Anything.lk was not only the official ticket partner for the event, but also handled the gate sales. But the biggest achievement for this Divisionto-date is the organising of the “Shaggy – Live in Concert” event.

Anything.lk produced what is one of the most talked about events in Sri Lanka which featured Shaggy, Rayvon, Aisha Davis and Shaggy’s own live band. The Shaggy event also had Anything.lk Merchants (who were offered their stall spaces free), custom built tiered platforms for the highest category of tickets and a family friendly environment for the audience members. The focus of the event was that of a being whole day of fun and it achieved that with ease. The event was so successful it is sure to prompt other deals companies to try copy the feat. Currently, Anything.lk has a staff of 60 who work towards bringing consumers all the fantastic Deals, Products and Services that are featured on the website.

The company has sold over 55,000 vouchers in the past 11 months and holds a 91% market share. While travel is the next division that is waiting in the wings to take off, Anything.lk is staying true to the “evolve or die mantra” and has several surprises in store for the rest of the year. Starting with its first year anniversary in June, the new revelations will be made at regular intervals. What could they be?
