Excellence in Action 2014: A series of presentations with distinction

The Royal College Class of ‘72 once again presents ‘Excellence in Action 2014’- an inspiring Career Development Seminar. It will be held on 19 February 2014 in Colombo. The previous seminars in 2012 and 2013 were addressed by distinguished speakers who shared their experiences with those present. Both seminars were well organised and there was large audience present coming from different walks of life. This year’s seminar will be presented at the Oak Room, Cinnamon Grand and will feature some of the most successful and eminent personalities involved in  different sectors in  Sri Lanka such as CT Holdings PLC Managing Director and Cargills ( Ceylon) PLC Deputy Chairman/CEO Ranjit Page, Brandix Lanka Ltd. Director Udena Wickramasooriya, Chairman Smart Media, Affno and Q & E- and Medical Doctor turned World Class Annual  Corporate Report Presenter Vijith Kannangara, Counsel Julius & Creasy a former Prosecutrix at the War Crimes tribunal in The Hague Prashanthi Mahindaratne, Kushil Gunasekera Foundation of Goodness Founder/Chief Trustee and an accomplished sportsman  who has dedicated his life  to compassion, humanity and uplifting the lives of the needy across the island, and Deutsche Bank Sri Lanka Assistant Vice President Inoka D. Perera, a highly qualified, young dynamic international banker. This seminar will help upgrade and improve the skills of our future generations, by motivating and fine tuning them to take on day to day challenges, face them confidently and succeed. The skills and determination imparted to the participants would no doubt benefit the country and society at large. This seminar’s target audience would be the senior management and middle management of corporate entities and also young entrepreneurs. The proceeds of these events are primarily used towards developing and uplifting needy rural villages in Sri Lanka, enhancing the quality of lives of the villagers. In 2013 a village school in Padaviya which is situated in the Anuradhapura/Trincomalee border with 500 deserving children received much needed assistance. Part of this work is still ongoing. In the previous year a community centre was constructed and donated to the people living in Punitha Nagar Nelliady - a rural village in the Jaffna district. In the same year, consequent to a request received from the Sri Lanka Army the organisers donated to 3,500 children in the Mannar district a gift of a school bag each with all necessary stationery etc. This event would be of immense benefit to the participants as they would be listening to speakers who are all outstanding achievers and proven motivators. The objective of the organisers is to provide a platform for a new generation of successful leaders to listen and learn from the real-time experiences of these men and women and from that insight take our country forward.
