Faiszer Musthapha holds discussions with Ceylon Chamber of Commerce

Representatives of the Ceylon Chamber of Commerce (CCC), participated in an interactive business discussion with Deputy Minister of Investment Promotion Faiszer Musthapha. The discussions centered on taking Sri Lanka forward in terms of Investment and trade.
Among the subjects discussed were environmental matters and their impact on industrial production, taxes relating to the ownership of land by foreign nationals and the land lease arrangement in place. The Minister also discussed with the Chamber leaders Sri Lanka’s Ease of Doing Business Ranking and ideas were shared on how the Government and the private sector would cooperate further in creating opportunities in the country through investment.
The Chamber met the Minister and discussed the problem of third parties using environmental issues to destabilise industries. The Minister gave an assurance that this would not happen.
The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce showed interest in carrying out joint promotion between the Ministry/BOI and the private sector in the field in investment. The Minister informed the Chamber that in the future, investment road shows will have CCC representation.
