Ambassador Asitha Perera thanked the FAO Director General Jose Graziano da Silva for supporting the post conflict development in the North of Sri Lanka.
Upon presenting credentials to the FAO, Ambassador Perera had specially requested the Director General to consider participating and supporting the recently resettled war affected population in the North and East of Sri Lanka.
The above project is funded by a donation to the FAO from the Australian Central Agency for International Development.
The primary objective of the project is to improve farming and fish based livelihood of several thousands of recently re-settled, conflict affected families in the Mullaitivu District, to enhance their field crops, vegetable and fruit, poultry and fishery production.
