Uditha Wanigasinghe, who founded Farmchemie Ltd. in 2002 being ambitious and persistent by nature, has never looked back since and Plantchem Ltd. and Feed Chemie Ltd. were inherited to the Farmchemie group. He as the Chairman and Managing Director of the Group is the single driving force that has made all accomplishments of Farmchemie Group possible. Being born as the youngest in the family with five siblings, Uditha learnt on life very early that anything worth could only be achieved with single mind focus and unwavering determination. This early lesson and his naturally go-getter personality are the lethal combinations that ultimately lead to his remarkable success. With his experience in the industry he managed to grasp of the needs of the grass root level farmers and was frustrated by the lack of attention paid to them and as a result the idea of Farmchemie was conceived in Uditha’s mind. Farmchemie commenced operations with only three employees, as an importer and distributor of animal health products. Uditha’s extraordinary perception of the problems of the farming community and his genuine efforts on their behalf won their trust in record time, resulting in farmchemie becoming the market leader in the animal health sector within three years and establishing its own brand ‘Farmstar’ products formulated in its very own fully-equipped factory complex. Two years after inception, Farmchemie ventured into the business of agro chemicals, specialty fertilisers and seeds and four years later into animal feed raw materials and farm machinery, which made the group an ‘all under one roof’ place for agricultural inputs as a result of Uditha’s astute business acumen. His belief in quality standards by acquiring premium quality supplies and good quality processes lead Farmchemie to be the first and only veterinary pharmaceutical company in Sri Lanka to hold the prestigious ISO 9001:2008 and WHO GMP Quality Awards. A merit award at the National Business Excellence Awards 2013 was another success in the Farmchemie bag. Uditha’s personal motto is ‘never give up’ and he is a great believer of not expecting the staff to carry out any task that he himself cannot accomplish. If he drives his staff hard, he drives himself harder; resulting in a highly-motivated and a devoted workforce which already has played a significant role in uplifting the agriculture industry of Sri Lanka. Farmchemie under the stewardship of Uditha Wanigasinghe has already implemented the global approach in the local industry and is ready to conquer the challenges and face the future with confidence.
