FCCISL Ajith Perera’s visit to Vietnam paves way to expand bilateral business cooperation

Federation of Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) Secretary General Ajith Perera visited Vietnam from 15 to 21 July on a business familiarisation tour, accompanied by Ree Bonn Cosmetics Ltd. Managing Director S. Sivarajah.

During the first part of the tour in Ho Chi Minh City, Hony. Consul of Sri Lanka and the Sri Lanka Embassy in Hanoi, Kevin Perera arranged business meetings. 

In Hanoi, the Embassy arranged the program for Secretary General Perera and was accompanied by Third Secretary (Commercial) of the Embassy Srimali Jayarathna. The program included meetings with Deputy Director General of Foreign Investment Agency (FIA) of Vietnam, Secretary General of the Vietnam Chamber of Commerce and Industry (VCCI), Deputy Director General of the Vietnam Trade Promotion Agency (VIETRADE) and Office Manager of the Association of Vietnam Retailers (AVR).

At these meetings discussions evolved around potential for bilateral investment, trade and tourism and taking concrete steps to fill the gaps including signing an MoU between the two Chambers for future cooperation and to exchange business delegations. 

Meanwhile, they also visited the Vietnam-Singapore Industrial Park in Hai Phong.

A business networking event, followed by dinner was arranged by Ambassador Hasanthi Urugodawatte Dissanayake at the official residence for over 30 business personnel and officials from relevant Vietnamese government entities. Prior to the reception, a comprehensive presentation on Sri Lanka’s Business Environment was done by Perera.
