FCCISL facilitates financial assistance from India for Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu

S. Ragavan, Special Secretary to the Ministry of External Affairs of the Government of India, was the Chief Guest of the launch of the financial assistance from Government of India for the renovation of damaged business buildings in Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu districts.

A pioneering group of 200 micro level business men and women of the total of 1,230 beneficiaries from the war-affected districts of Kilinochchi and Mullaitivu received financial assistance at a ceremony recently held at the Cooperative Conference Hall in Kilinochchi. A Rs. 70 million project, financial aid will be granted among the micro, small, medium and large categories of businesses for the repair of damaged business buildings in these two districts.

Ragavan in his address mentioned that the Government of India will continue to support war affected people all over Sri Lanka and stated that they have already committed themselves to building 50,000 houses and have commenced the work of laying railway lines from Madawachchiya to Mannar and Vavuniya to KKS. Furthermore, the Government of India will facilitate the development of the KKS harbour and will commence shipping services from Rameswaram to Talaimannar. He requested the beneficiaries to utilise the financial assistance genuinely for business development.  

Nalin Attygala, the Secretary General of the FCCISL was the Guest of Honour, and in his welcome address spoke about the role played by the FCCISL since 2010 and detailed the categories of beneficiaries and the amount of financial assistance for each group.
