FCCISL organised workshop on Professional Chamber and Association Management

The Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry of Sri Lanka (FCCISL) organised an induction workshop on Professional Chamber and Association Management on 1 June for its staff of members.

Its objectives included assisting all members to developing their organisation capacities and competencies including professional development, strengthen the relationship with members, develop and strengthen network among members of FCCISL.

At the inauguration session, FCCISL President Kumar Mallimaratchi stated the importance of the workshop and said that as employees of chambers and business associations, business councils it is necessary to have fundamental knowledge on professional chamber and association management which is directly effect to success of chambers or associations.

The main session on Professional Chamber and Association Management was conducted by Membership, Projects and Services Division Head Krishantha Wiesenthige covering the topics: governance, finances, human resources and staff, management of chamber activities, marketing and communication. Also under the main topic of governance are covered sub areas of mission, organisation, memorandum and articles of associations, bylaws, organisation structure, board of directors, committees. Development and management of chamber service portfolio, principles of policy and advocacy were also covered in the program.

The workshop was attended by staff of members of FCCISL such as national and regional level chambers, associations, business council. In view of participants that outcome of the workshop is a not only trained staff members on professional chamber and association management also workshop make effect on developing and strengthening the network among members of FCCISL all over the country. Also this induction workshop makes opportunity of sharing experiences of participants from member chambers, associations, councils of FCCISL.
