A business delegation consisting of eight representatives of leading Finnish enterprises and banks paid a visit to the BOI to study Sri Lanka’s business climate and examine the potential for investment by Finnish enterprises in Sri Lanka.
The business delegation was led by Rauli Suikkanen, Ambassador of Finland to Sri Lanka. The Finnish institutes were The Federation of Finnish Technology Industries, FIM, Duodecim, Future Group Oy and PAM.
The business delegation from Finland being briefed by the Board of Investment
The delegation was briefed by senior officials of the BOI who described the country’s ease of doing business and strategies relating to attracting investment into the country. Finland is particularly interested in the area of Research and Development and this area of investment is also of interest to the BOI as currently most investmentsinto the country are involved in production rather than R&D.
The BOI was represented by Renuka Weerakone, Executive Director (Investment and Promotion), Nilupul de Silva, Director (Promotion) and Dilip Samarasinghe, Director (Media and Publicity).
