In association with the National Enterprise Development Authority (NEDA), functioning under the Ministry of Industry and Commerce, the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam (CCIY) will host the Northern Entrepreneur Award Ceremony, 2014 in Jaffna in September 2014 as the historical first awarding program for the entrepreneurs of Northern Province.
These awards will provide the better recognition of their enterprises and also motivate and encourage them to enhance their significant contribution in Gross Domestic Product of the Northern Province and the country as a whole.
As described below 19 award winners will be selected throughout the Northern Province covering the Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Mullaitivu, Vavuniya and Mannar Districts.
The award winners will be selected from diverse sectors including manufacturing sector, engineering services, tourism, education, information technology, printing press, agriculture, fisheries, livestock construction sectors.
Chairman of the Chamber of Commerce and Industries of Yarlpanam, K. Pooranachandran expressed that the present situation in Northern Province is in favourable manner for the expansion of the investment opportunities for creating the new enterprises in sustainable manner.
The industrial and service sectors are gradually improving their business activities in Northern Province. He further said that this awarding program is being conducted as the annual key activity of the Chamber for the purpose of recognising, rewarding and motivating the Northern entrepreneurs who contributed the significant amount in increase of the Gross Domestic Product of Northern Province.
