Fonterra Co-operative Group Ltd. yesterday today announced Leon Clement as the new Managing Director for Fonterra Brands in Sri Lanka. Clement took over the role on 1 December from Achyut Kasireddy, who has relocated to a role within Fonterra in China.

Managing Director ASEAN/MENA Mark Wilson said Clement was well placed to guide Fonterra in this important dairy market.

“Fonterra is firmly committed to Sri Lanka – we have been supplying dairy nutrition to the country for more than 35 years. Today we employ more than 700 staff and work with multiple distribution and retail partners across the island.

“We have a diverse business in Sri Lanka that spans the dairy spectrum – from local milk collection and farmer development through to the manufacture, packing and distribution of high quality dairy nutrition.

“Clement has more than 10 years experience in the dairy industry and a deep understanding of our business. He will provide strong leadership for our people as they continue to deliver high quality dairy nutrition to the country,” said Wilson.  Clement moved to Sri Lanka from Fonterra in Vietnam, where he led Fonterra’s consumer brands business for four years. Clement joined Fonterra in 2002 and has held a number of senior management and General Manager roles.  Clement said Fonterra is committed to providing high quality dairy nutrition. “We play an important role in the Sri Lankan food and dairy industry and have many long standing and strong partnerships across the country. We have been working alongside local farmers as well as industry, retail and distribution partners to make dairy nutrition readily available for generations and our brands are highly trusted in Sri Lanka.

“We are committed to investing further in the local dairy sector and want to continue working alongside the Government, the local dairy industry and our retail and distribution partners to continue our proud tradition of delivering dairy nutrition to people across Sri Lanka.”
