Dairy co-operative Fonterra yesterday announced the appointment of Sunil Sethi as Managing Director of Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent. This follows Leon Clement’s recent appointment as Managing Director Fonterra Brands New Zealand.

Sethi, who will start the role in February, joins Untitled-3Fonterra from Kellogg’s where he was Vice President of Sales, Asia Pacific & Sub Sahara Africa.

He has over 28 years of fast moving consumer goods experience working across Asia Pacific and Africa including in leadership roles where Sri Lanka has been one of his priority markets.

Fonterra Managing Director of Asia, Middle East and Africa, Johan Priem, says he is pleased to have someone of Sethi’s experience and ability join the dairy co-operative.

“Fonterra has a strong business in Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent region with over 750 local employees, thousands of farmer suppliers and two manufacturing sites. It’s critical that we continue to have a strong and experienced leader heading up our team in the country – particularly as we continue to grow our investment in local dairying infrastructure and capabilities.

“Sunil is a results driven leader, has an extensive background leading teams in the region and strong marketing and sales experience, making him the ideal person to take over from Leon,” said Priem.

Sethi says he is looking forward to joining a company with such a strong and proud history in Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent.

“Fonterra’s Anchor brand has been part families in the region for generations and I’m excited about working alongside a great team to continue to grow the local dairy industry and ensure high quality dairy nutrition continues to be accessible to everyone.”

Priem also paid tribute to Clement’s contribution saying that he had done an exceptional job managing Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka and Indian Subcontinent and that his new role within the co-operative is a great opportunity.
