Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka clinches top sector honours at NOSHE Awards 2014

Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka has been recognised as best-in-class for occupational health and safety, after being awarded the top honour for the food and beverage sector at the 2014 National Occupational Safety & Health Excellence (NOSHE) Awards. Organised by the National Institute of Occupational Safety and Health, in collaboration with the Ministry of Labour and Labour Relations, the NOSHE Awards identify and reward Sri Lankan companies which demonstrate occupational health and safety best practice. Under the patronage of Sri Lankan Prime Minister D.M. Jayaratne, the event in Colombo saw over 100 companies nominated across various industries including food and beverage, manufacturing, tourism, construction and textile. Fonterra’s Director of People and Culture Dinusha Jayamanne welcomed the award saying it is a great achievement by all employees to receive this award and it shows the company’s commitment to health and safety. “Safety is our highest priority and underpins everything we do at Fonterra Brands Sri Lanka. This award demonstrates our commitment to ensure that all our people get home safely every day, across all of our operations. “I would also like to congratulate the other winners who have shown such a strong commitment to making our workplaces in Sri Lanka safer,” she said. Fonterra has been providing high quality dairy nutrition to Sri Lankans for more than 35 years and today operates two manufacturing sites and employs approximately 740 staff.
