Former Hamburg Senator speaks to local biz community on lessons to be learnt from German economy

Ian Karan, a former Senator for Economic Affairs and Labour, City of Hamburg was in Sri Lanka recently. During his stay in the country, Karan addressed the local business community at a breakfast meeting jointly organised by Sri Lanka-Germany Business Council and The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce. During the meeting, which took place on 28 February, 2014 at the Kingsbury Hotel, Colombo, the former senator shared his views and experience on “What makes the German economy the strongest in Europe and lessons we could learn from Germany”. German Ambassador in Sri Lanka Juergen Morhard attended as the Guest of Honour at the event.   Karan is also the Founder of Capital Lease one of the largest container leasing companies worldwide and has more than 30 years experience in shipping industry.
