Forum on infrastructure partnerships between Canada and Sri Lanka

The Trade Commi-ssioner Service of the High Comm-ission of Canada to Sri Lanka organised a forum titled ‘Infra-structure and the Economy: Sri Lanka-Canada Partnerships’ in Colombo to stimulate exchange and promote trade between the two countries.
The event highlighted Canadian expertise in the infrastructure sector with presentations from Canadian organisations in various sectors including transportation, green building and urban development, and water and wastewater management. The event was attended by representatives of the Sri Lankan Government, the private sector and international financing institutions.
Speaking at the event, High Commissioner Shelley Whiting noted the positive growth in the Sri Lankan economy and the opportunities that Sri Lanka presents for partnership with Canadian businesses. She further reiterated the strong historic relationships between Sri Lanka and Canada, and encouraged new ties through the event.
She added that the High Commission of Canada extends its support to Canadian and Sri Lankan companies as they jointly embark on business opportunities in the infrastructure sector in Sri Lanka.
