Forum to commemorate SAARC Charter Day on 8 December

The South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA) and the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA) being SAARC recognized bodies are celebrating SAARC Charter Day on 8th December 2014 from 2.00-5.00pm at Hotel Taj Samudra, Lower Crystal Room.
CMA and CPM will organize a joint seminar to raise the awareness of the members about SAARC and its activities, thereby enhancing South Asian Identity and Solidarity within the Region and beyond.
CMA Sri Lanka is a member of the South Asian Federation of Accountants (SAFA). SAFA is the regional body of Professional Accountants comprising the Chartered accountancy and cost and Management Accountancy bodies in South Asia. Currently the members are from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka Nepal and Bhutan. Meetings of SAFA are held regularly during the year. On 4th December the SAFA Board meeting will be held in Bhubaneswar, Odisha, India.
The Institute of Certified Professional Managers is a member of the Association of Management Development Institutions in South Asia (AMDISA). AMDISA is a SAARC recognized body, established with the initiatives of leading management Schools in the SAARC region. AMDISA promotes Management Education and Management Development in the SAARC region. The next South Asian Management Forum organized by CPM will be held in Colombo, Sri Lanka in March 25th & 26th 2015.
On the SAARC Charter Day, a big celebration event is held by all the members (Maldives, India, Bhutan, Pakistan, Nepal, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka & Afghanistan) in order to raise the public awareness about the commitment to the SAARC process. It is also celebrated to emphasize the major activities and work of the Association. Charter Day is commemorated every year by the statement of the Member States and the Secretary General.
At this seminar Nihal Rodrigo former member of the Sri Lanka Foreign Service and former Secretary General of SAARC will share his experience on the SAARC, Regional and Global Issues and Dr. Saman Kelegama, Executive Director, Institute of Policy Studies will set the note by his address on Enhancing Regional Co-operation and Economic community in South Asia. The seminar will conclude with a panel discussion by the SAARC member body representatives from High Commissions and Embassies of India, Bangladesh, Pakistan, Nepal, Bhutan, Maldives, Afghanistan & Sri Lanka. Dr. A. Rohan Perera, former Legal Advisor Ministry of External Affairs will also join the panel.
