CMA-CGM Shared Service Centre Lanka Ltd.’s annual revenue in Sri Lanka will exceed $ 4 m. The new entity in Colombo will create 700 job opportunities in Sri Lanka by the end of 2016. At the time of opening CMA-CGM Lanka had already recruited and trained more than 125 employees, mostly young graduates and CIMA/ICASL professionals. CMA-CGM Vice President Christian Krarup stressed the importance of the project and commended the support received from the BOI/Ministry of Investment Promotion and its local partner, the Hayleys Group. He said that the staff of the new centre should be proud as they are “part of a journey for Sri Lanka that is just beginning”. Wickramaratne noted that the CMA-CGM investment was most welcome in Sri Lanka and “overdue by one decade”. He stated that CMA-CGM, a Fortune 500 company, would benefit considerably from Sri Lanka’s greatest asset, its geographical position. He added that while Sri Lanka was a small country, it was independent and there was a commitment on the part of the Government to build up the local human resources base. CMA-CGM Shared Service Centre Lanka Ltd. is a Hayleys Joint Venture with Hayleys owning 10% of the equity in CMA-CGM Shared Service Lanka.
