French Trade Commission to support energy efficiency in construction sector

The French Trade Commission of the Embassy of France in Sri Lanka will hold a symposium titled ‘Energy efficiency in the construction sector’ on 20 June at the BMICH.

It is part of ‘French Spring’ which will be held from 15 to 24 June at BMICH, jointly organised by the Embassy of France and the Ministry of cultural affairs of Sri Lanka.

Recognising the importance and the interest given for the topic of sustainable energy management as at present by the State as well as the private sector, in order to promote French companies and their know-how on this subject, the Trade Commission of the French Embassy decided to organise a symposium on energy efficiency in the construction sector.

“We are focusing mainly on the construction sector since many projects are earmarked in the North/East development plan and numerous projects related to the tourism and urban development is progressing. We look forward for the attendance of 150 local professionals such as architects, contractors, engineers, town planners, energy managers, hotel/hospitality sector operators, public agencies for the symposium,” a spokesman said.

French companies who have confirmed their participation so far: Schneider Electric (energy efficiency specialist), Bureau Veritas (leader in conformity assessment and certification), Lafarge Mahaweli Cement (leading cement and materials company), Saint Gobain Glass India (leading float glass manufacturer), Cristopia (specialist in HVAC and thermal engineering), Monier (leading supplier of roofing material)

The event partners are the BMICH, The Ceylon Chamber of Commerce, Sri Lanka France Business Council, EU Switch Asia Greening Hotels, The National Chamber of Commerce of Sri Lanka, Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority.
