GE launches General Communications with range of Sri Lankan branded UHF/VHF two-way devices

Maritime, aerospace, commercial enterprises, defence and security markets targeted with cost effective long and short term rental packages

General Engineers & Suppliers Co. (GE) launched its new subsidiary operation, General Communications, yesterday, which promises to bring in a new dimension to the provision of mission critical communication equipment, with its own GE branded range of UHF/VHF two-way communication devices.
With a 35-year history of providing communication equipment services in Sri Lanka, GE will be aiming the product at both the private and public sectors, in the fields of security, construction, hospitality, NGOs, governmental agencies, harbours and plantation companies both in Sri Lanka and internationally as well.
Speaking at the launch General Communications CEO Roshan Motha said: “GE has been a provider of communication systems and solutions to industries including maritime, aerospace, commercial enterprises and the defence and security markets for over three decades. We have been a trusted partner in the growth agenda of many companies. GE’s portfolio includes UHF/VHF two-way communication radio solutions to name a few and is deployed on thousands of mission critical platforms.”
With the security landscape having changed drastically over the past few decades and with more businesses considering resorting to mission critical communication equipment to secure not only the interests of the businesses but also of its people, the need for reliable, high quality communication devices are almost a prerequisite in today’s operational environments.
“Prevention being better than cure, our communication equipment serves as a preventive method by which the interests of businesses can persons can be secured and that is the ethos of our company,” Motha said.
The company’s GE5500 range of communication handsets which was developed by the company and manufactured in China to its own quality standards and requirements, will look to cater to all these preconditions. “The GE5500 is an outstanding reliable unit, manufactured in China under the best quality assurance standards. The latest brand of GE two-way radio equipment also enters the market at an unmatched rental package tariff starting at a mere Rs. 1500,” Motha revealed.
In addition, the company also offers a strong back up after sales service with a 24 hour service team on call that also provides a free one-to-one replacement on each unit.
Motha also pointed out that the benefits of the company’s rental packages are quite attractive in that it negates the need to large capital expenditure for companies or even the need for going through the complex licensing procedures needed to use two-way devices.
General Engineers and Supplies is licensed by the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission and is also approved by the Ministry of Defence.
