Germany funds boost for vocational training in north

A vocational training centre with necessary facilities is to be established at Kilinochchi with grant assistance from the Government of the Federal Republic of Germany and the work is to be completed by 2015.
The proposed vocational training centre will have the capacity to cater to 200 trainees and will offer short- term and long-term training programs. The Government of Germany has agreed to enhance its financial contribution for this project with an additional grant of 4.4 million euros to establish eight satellite centres at this vocational training centre at Kilinochchi and these centres will be established in the Mullaitivu, Jaffna, Kilinochchi, Vavuniya and Mannar Districts. The project will be implemented by the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Skills Development in close collaboration with the relevant line ministries and agencies.
The above proposal, made by the President, in his capacity as the Minister of Finance and Planning was approved by the Cabinet early thi sweek.
