Gestetner of Ceylon Plc recently expanded its presence within the printing environment by acquiring a state-of-the-art Heidelberg two-colour press with a Polar paper cutter, which will enable it to improve its service and client range.
Gestetner of Ceylon Plc is a long-serving public quoted company, well known as one of the key players of the office automation business. Gestetner of Ceylon Plc introduced digital copiers to the Sri Lankan market followed with another first with the ‘copier outsourcing scheme’ which enabled the corporate world to outsource copiers without blocking their CAPEX.
Years ago, the company started a simple copy bureau service to cater to the growing need of quick copying and printing jobs. This bureau service was established with a standard copier, a digital copy printer and a couple of finishing equipment. The ‘digital copy printer’ was the first to serve cost-effective printing in double quick time. Its productivity was with an amazing speed of 130 prints per minute or 7,800 prints per hour.
The success story of this simple print shop encouraged the company to take its business to the next level. In 2007, the company cautiously expanded by adding to its resources such as people, machinery, etc. A one-colour offset printing press with a paper cutter added value to the service and opened the door to the large-scale printing industry. The quality of the press’ output is a key aspect of the business together with its delivery deadline promises.
However, changes in trends the business continued to change market demand. Gestetner of Ceylon Plc is one of the companies who responded and adapted to changing trends in the past and continues to embrace changes to fit the market pace.
Gestetner of Ceylon Plc provides printing services through its fully-owned subsidiary, Nashua Lanka Ltd, located at 248 Vauxhall Street, Colombo 2.
